It seems like it's been forever...

Some weeks just never seem to end. They drag on and on and on and on and on.
Well you get the idea. This week was one of those weeks.
I had an IEP to write, behaviors to deal with and new ideas to think of for a few situations going on in my classroom. I also dealt with some sicknesses and we got some snow. The 2 hr delay we got on Thursday was much needed and the early dismissal we got on Friday was nice too. Ha! I just realized we didn’t even have school on Monday! I guess when you try to do too much with not enough time it can be slightly frustrating.

Any who!  I wanted to share with you guys a few things.

1st off I am very excited for the new clip art I put in my TPT store. The wonderful Paraprofessional, Mrs. V, in my classroom has a daughter who is extremely talented! Her work is amazing! She is a busy girl with a part time job, going to art school full time, and now is starting to make clip art for educators to use. I am helping her out by promoting her work. The money she makes selling the clip art will go directly to her. She calls her work Smart by Nikki.

I thought it was very cute and clever, myself!

Click on the link Here to see some of her work.

I love freebies. I have seen the traffic on my blog pick up so much with all of the freebies I am making available for downloads. I’m up to 700-some views. It’s awesome. With views brings followers and with followers I get to meet cool new People. =)

So with out much further ado, here is another one. Click on the link to see it and download it. IF you don't have a TPT account, well you should. ;) But here is the google doc for it.

Happy Three Day Weekend!

Friday, January 18, 2013

Whew! I made it through the crazy week. And as a wonderful treat to myself I get a three-day weekend! Thank you! Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. No, seriously, though, thank you!

My students did awesome this week learning about MLK Jr. Day. It was kind of a tough concept for them to grasp, but I think we may have finally got through to them. We started off with looking at two eggs: a brown one, and a white one. All of my students thought that they would be different on the inside. But to their surprise, they were the same! We read a few books and listened to a few songs. I'm hopeful that they understand what it is now though.

So this week I went a little crazy. My students are having a hard time with identifying and counting money. I couldn't find anything that I liked, so I started my own packet. I only have 1 page done so far, but it is my freebie for this week. Let me know if you like it or used it by leaving a comment.

In Laughter and Learning,

Counting, Numbers, and Paint Chips! Oh! My!

Sunday, January 13, 2013

Wow!  The week did fly. That first week back after a long break is always so hard. I had big plans this week for working on a few more TPT products, but boy, that didn’t seem to happen. This week doesn’t look much more promising either. I have 2 trainings in one week, I may be getting another student, and I have an IEP & an ETR to write! For those of you who may have stumbled onto my blog and have no clue what those things are let me clue you in.  IEP stands for individualized education plan and ETR stands for evaluation team report. Phew. And to explain what they actually are is another post. If you can’t get through your night without knowing. Well, I suggest you should Google it!

I digress. So here’s the stuff you probably actually want to know.

If you know me, well I am a fan of free things, The Dollar Tree, and the dollar section at Target. There are just so many neat / cheap things that I can get for my room to help my kiddoes learn. So anytime I can get something cheap or free I am there. Especially since the Education service center where I work is under some tight budget constraints as of late.

I picked up paint chips at Home Depot. I hate taking things for free. I know they are free, I just feel weird about taking them, knowing that I am not actually going to buy any paint. I tell myself that when I have a home of my own, I will actually go back and buy paint from them though. That makes me feel a teensy bit better.

I have a few students struggling with counting by 5’s. Counting to 100 by 1’s seemed to go relatively smooth for them, but for some reason, the 5’s were a bit trickier.

I caught some inspiration on pinterest where I saw a teacher do this, but with letters. SO I grabbed the paint chips wrote with my lovely sharpies numbers by 5’s. Then we practiced. Each paint chip he had to say the number before he jumped on it. My goal is to slowly remove the numbers so he has to think about it before he jumps, knowing that a number is missing. So far we had 5 and 10 before. After using them just 2 times, he can already go to 35! I’m excited. We are going to continue to use them and see just how well he can do. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Happy Blogging!

In Learning & Laughter,

I'm a dork.

Monday, January 7, 2013

I'm a dork. I know this though, so I don't see it as much of a problem any

more. I love teacher goods. Highlighters, post-its, & pens! Oh My! I

seriously got some teacher goods for Christmas, so my family knows my

love of them. New school supplies always make me feel giddy inside. So

what I'm about to say should come as no surprise.

EEEK! I have blog followers, and got blog comments, and have TPT

followers, and (gasp!) even made a sale! While I am certainly not in the

top 100 sellers, ( Heck! let's be honest probably not even in the 100,000)

I'm just as excited! I did a fist pump and the happy dance and even

threw in some high fives. I see lots of bloggers who give away free

stuff once they have reached a certain number of followers.  I, on the

other hand, give away free stuff when I have 4 followers! Just

because of my sheer excitement of knowing that someone is actually

reading this. I told you I'm a dork. If that post wasn't enough to convince

you, I don't know what will be. But because I am feeling the blogging

love, I am passing on the blogging love here is one of my packets I am

selling on TPT. If you download it all I ask is that you think about buy

something else from my TPT because I am linking up with Kristin from

Little Miss Glamour goes to Kindergarten to donate 50% of my TPT

earnings to Sandy Hook Elementary.

Hope you enjoy it.

So I was a little confused at how the linky party works. I wish I was a master whiz at it all but I’m not. So now that I have it figured out.
I'm linking up for the January Currently with Oh' Boy 4th Grade
 So here goes....
=)

Listening: to my boyfriend game. He has this game that he has been playing for the entire break. He is always worried that I am getting upset with him for gaming so much......... The secret...... I love when he games, it lets me blog, pinterest, and gives me time to make more resources for my classroom. =)

Loving: My family and friends. They are amazing. I had the best Christmas I have had in a long time, thanks to them. I love, love, love them.

Thinking: about all that must be done. or maybe I should say all that SHOULD be done today. Yes, I am one of the few that still does not have my christmas tree down. SO yes, thats a definite must, but the rest of the list is maybe a little less pressing....maybe.

Wanting: A magic work fairy! Wouldn't that be great. Fairy please go do my laundry, wash my dishes, write my lesson plans, run my errands, pay my bills. Oh, how nice that would be....... but since they don't have those just yet, I digress.

Needing: to get my master's paper done. To be honest it's embarrassing how long has gone by since I should have had it done. The past year was turbulent for me to say the least. A health scare, two moderately bad car accidents, (both of which I like to say, were NOT my fault. I'm not a bad driver I swear) As you can see, I have had plenty of reason to put off my paper. SO i did. and I'm still in that procrastination mode. I need to snap out of it.

OLW : Recharge. I love being an Intervention SPecialist. I love my students, the people I work with, almost everything about my job I Love. But sometimes You just need a break and a chance to remind yourself that what you do matters. What you are doing matters, and you are helping to shape little lives.

SO that's me currently. Don't ask what I doing future-ly. I'm not exactly sure. ;)

Merry Christmas, Here's to Many More.....

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year! Well, I am just a few days late or maybe a week.  Depends on which way you look at it.
December came fast and furious, like it always seems to come. I love the holidays. There is so much to do. Family to see, friends to visit with, lights to wonder at, presents to buy, etc. The list goes on. So as you can tell, because of all of this my newly started blog got put on the back burner.

Well, my new years resolution is to make sure I blog once a week. =)

Since I missed most of December here is a quick view of what my class did.

Enjoy!
Marshmallow snowman ornaments! They did such a good job!

Our Christmas Tree! We cut out our traced hands and made lights with our names on them and stapled it to ribbon. Everybody loved it! Everything was cut out by them. We are working hard to improve our fine motor skills. =)
Our Salt Dough hand print ornament. I was a very proud teacher. They painted very well. They did need help to glue eyes and the pom-pom. My boyfriend, Mr. S, thought they looked like weird octopus creatures, until I told them they were Santa hands. He says he saw it after I told him. I didn't let him ruin my happiness though. ;) SO proud of my kiddos. Once they were done we wrapped them as Christmas Presents for Parents.

Those were just a few of the things we kept busy with!
